From time to time I am asked questions along the lines of: “What is special about Holy Fire Reiki?” or “How does Holy Fire Reiki differ from Usui Reiki?”.

In my Reiki journey I’ve come across many different types of Reiki, and have been ‘attuned’ to more than a few, and if I was asked the same question about those types of Reiki the answer would perhaps be: “Well, the energy feels different. It feels stronger. Or it feels to have a higher level of vibration.”. But when it comes to Holy Fire Reiki then the answer is a little more involved.

First of all, Holy Fire Reiki is one of the latest forms of Reiki available on planet Earth. It was given to us in 2014 and it has a number of key differences to the much loved and cherished traditional Usui Reiki.

Introducing Holy Fire Experiences

One of the first differences is that Holy Fire Reiki can be used to give Reiki to groups of people simultaneously. So, what do I mean by that? Well, traditionally Reiki is performed on a one-to-one basis just as is the case when a therapist gives a massage or any other holistic treatment. However, with Holy Fire Reiki the Reiki Master can carry out a Reiki ‘Experience’. In short these ‘Experiences’ bring Holy Fire Reiki directly to all who are in attendance and want to receive it.

A further note here is that during an Experience the Holy Fire energy comes directly from ‘Source’ and not via the Reiki Master. This is of key importance as it ensures that the recipients receive the purest and most complete energy to suit their needs.

In terms of the healing and other benefits associated with ‘Experiences’, then they are certainly no less effective than traditional Reiki sessions, in fact in many instances I see more profound ‘shifts’ occurring along with many interesting experiences by those receiving.

In the Holy Fire toolbox there are seven different experiences to choose from. All have their own specific aim and focus of healing.

Perhaps a final note is to say that the Holy Fire Reiki Master who initiates the Experience also benefits from the same healing opportunities that all of the recipients receive.

The Way ‘Attunements’ are Performed

Another key difference is the way in which ‘attunements’ are performed. If you already have Reiki in your life then you will be familiar with the term ‘attunement’, however, if you do not, then you may be wondering what an attunement is.

In brief an attunement is the process that a Reiki Master uses to ‘give’ Reiki to a new student. In traditional Usui Reiki then this is performed directly between the Reiki Master and the student. However, in keeping with the way that Holy Fire Experiences are delivered, so too are attunements in the Holy Fire world.

What do I mean? Imagine a class setting where a group of students have come to learn Reiki. In a traditional classroom setting the Reiki Master would need to go to each student individually and perform the attunement process. In a Holy Fire class the attunement process is called a ‘Placement’ and like an Experience a Placement can be performed for all students simultaneously.

And, in the same way that the energies for an Experience come directly from ‘Source’, so too do they for a Placement.

Again, this has some key benefits:

  • One is that the energy is the purest that it can be for each student.
  • It is exactly right for each and every student too, i.e. it is not subject to the experience of the Reiki Master.

Holy Fire Placements are available for Usui Levels: 1, 2 and Master, which means that as a Holy Fire Master you can still continue to teach Usui Reiki at all levels.

In case you were wondering about what happens at the Holy Fire Reiki Master level, then there is a similar process, called an ‘Ignition’ that is used to impart the abilities of a Holy Fire Master. In actual fact there are four Ignitions for a Holy Fire Master. I think that this speaks volumes about the depth of energetic transformation that occurs for an individual who becomes a Holy Fire Reiki Master. Especially so when you compare the fact that each level of Usui Reiki needs only one Placement.

Simplicity Itself

What I haven’t shared so far about: Ignitions, Placements and Experiences, is that they are incredibly simple. The traditional attunement process involves quite a number of individual steps.

For a newly qualified Reiki Master this can be very daunting. However, with Holy Fire all that is needed, for all of these processes, is a brief ‘guided meditation’, which helps to relax the student, and then to surrender the process to ‘Source’ and allow the Holy Fire Reiki energy to flow. That’s as complex as it gets. Put plainly it is ‘simplicity itself’, and yet it is also incredibly powerful.

Other Differences

As mentioned at the outset Holy Fire Reiki is very new, being birthed, as it were, back in January 2014. Since then it has been ‘upgraded’ two times. In December 2015 it became Holy Fire II. And in September 2018 it was upgraded to become Holy Fire III. In each instance there have been further simplifications of the processes that the Reiki Master uses, and perhaps more importantly the energy itself has been increased in frequency to enhance and deepen the healing ability.

Conclusion

A final word maybe to mention that you can of course still use Holy Fire Reiki in the traditional one-to-one setting.
